Cable joint kits, opened and counted
A joint kit is a packing list before it is a product. Ferrules, mastics, sleeves, mesh tape, springs and clamps, counted out for one joint in one cable. Terminations, breakouts, busbar sleeving, sheath repair and general-purpose tubing are named here where they touch a joint, then handed off.
- Six series carry the range. GXLT/GPLT to 3.3 kV, GXS and GXSS to 36 kV, GPS for paper cable, GTJ across the two, GXLTS for submersible.
- Open a GTJ/2436 box and the list runs to 20 numbered components and 8 installation aids. None of that is one moulded part.

Pick the series from what the cable is
Construction first. Then core count. Then voltage class — that is the one that picks the code.
GXLT / GPLT — up to 3.3 kV
Straight-through joints for 1, 2, 3, 3½ and 4-core solid-dielectric XLPE/PVC and paper-insulated cable, armoured or unarmoured. Codes GXLT-1 to GXLT-6 at 1.1 kV, GXLT-11 to GXLT-16 at 3.3 kV, covering 4x1.5–6 up to 4x300–400 sq mm.
GXS/1236 — three-core XLPE, 12 to 36 kV
Extruded-dielectric, shielded, armoured or unarmoured three-core cable at 12 kV, 15–24 kV and 36 kV. Codes GXS-11 to GXS-15, GXS-21 to GXS-25 and GXS-31 to GXS-34, from 16 to 500 sq mm. Its sheet splits the manifest three ways: 13 kit components, 8 installation aids, 6 cable components the kit has to match.
GXSS/1236 — single core, to 36 kV
The single-core counterpart to GXS, same three voltage classes, 16 to 1000 sq mm in codes GXSS-11 to GXSS-35. Core count is the only thing separating the two families, and it is the thing that gets ordered wrong.
GPS — three-core PILC, 11 to 33 kV
GPS/1112 splices 11 kV paper-insulated lead-covered cable, codes GPS-11 to GPS-15, 16 to 630 sq mm. GPS/2436 carries the screened range above it: GPS-21 to GPS-24 at 24 kV, GPS-31 to GPS-34 at 36 kV. Oil barrier sleeves and plumbing metal are on both lists.
GTJ — paper one side, XLPE the other
A transition joint matches components across two different cable constructions in one splice. GTJ/1112 takes 3x16–35 up to 3x630 sq mm at 12 kV. Its chart runs GTJ-11 to GTJ-15, then GTJ-17. No GTJ-16 is printed. GTJ/2436 runs GTJ-21 to GTJ-25 at 15–24 kV and GTJ-31 to GTJ-34 at 36 kV.
GXLTS — submersible cable
The manufacturer lists GXLTS as heat-shrinkable straight-through joints for submersible cable. That is the whole entry. No source for kit codes, cable sizes or a selection chart — the series is not in the joints catalogue we hold. Ask before you write it into a schedule.
The count changes inside one series
Two kits with the same letters on the label are not the same kit. In a GXS/1236 box the red insulating tubing is 3 pieces at 12 kV and 6 at 24 and 36 kV. Stress control mastic moves 6 to 9 on the same rule. A GTJ/2436 carries 6 lengths of screened tubing at 15–24 kV and 9 at 36 kV. Read the quantity column against the voltage class, never against the series.
That is why the manifest is the content here. Emery tape, nylon string for cutting XLPE insulation, mopping cloth, cleaning tissue and silicone grease all carry quantities, inside the standard kit. Open the box on site short of one, and you have a hole in the ground and nothing to do in it.
Joint, splice and jointing kit all reach the same shelf. The manufacturer uses both words: the GXLT/GPLT page is written up as a cable splicing kit. Nothing is lost by searching either. The full series index sits on the manufacturer's cable joints page.

Ending the cable instead of joining it
A termination finishes a run at a bushing, a transformer or an overhead line. That is the GLT, GXO/E, GXOS/E and GPO/E range, with rain sheds and tail lengths no joint kit publishes. Different chart — the manufacturer's terminations index has it.
Sealing the crutch of a multi-core cable
Breakouts — low voltage, anti-tracking, semi-conductive — seal where the cores separate. A three-core joint kit already carries a conducting breakout as a line item, so the part is named on the contents page rather than given a family here.
A damaged sheath with no join in it
Conductor sound, jacket torn: nothing needs cutting and no ferrule goes on. That is a wrap-around repair sleeve, applied over the damage in place. It is the manufacturer's Insulsleeve, not a joint kit.
A bolted busbar joint in a panel
Busbar joints are bolted and meant to come apart again for inspection. They take a removable shroud, not something shrunk down and sealed. Nothing here applies to them, and no page will stretch to pretend it does.
Send the cable, not the part number
Five lines get a kit code back first time. Construction — XLPE, PVC, PILC, or a transition between two. Core count. Conductor size in sq mm. System voltage. Armoured or not. Add where the joint will live if that is a pit, a duct or under water. Kit Sheet holds no stock and quotes nothing; that comes from the manufacturer.
